lil bird

So a few posts down I said how inspired I was to paint on my pages, and well that turned into me wanting to paint on canvas a lil bit. I have done 2 girls, but they are so not worth showing. But I will share my lil bird - that I love. The picture is a little off color wise, the clouds are white. Thanks again to Elise for the inspiration to paint more.

This morning

I was hurt - my motherly soul was injured. As I listened to NPR on the way into work they began talking about a missile attack by Israel on a group of cars trying to leave Lebanon. I listened to them talk about how the civilians in Southern Lebanon are being warned to leave, but they are being attacked as they leave. I was fine - none of it seemed out of the ordinary, I mean we are talking about the Middle East. Then I heard her cry. One of the 3 cars that was hit had a family in it - Mom, Dad, Son, Daughter, and others. The little girl is who I focused in on. It killed her dad and her uncle(?), burned her and her brother severely, made her mother deaf, and broke several of her and her brother's bones. She was screaming. You could hear the pain, or at least I could. This little girl was 8 months old. 8 MONTHS old. I find myself wondering what I would feel like if I were the mother standing - deaf - over my broken son and daughter. Watching them scream and cry out in pain. I would be asking myself why. WHY? Because my government did something I may or may not agree with. Because power is so important that it doesn't matter who suffers in the pursuit of it.
I now find myself thinking that this world would be a much better place if things were decided by mothers. If the government had to go to a council of mothers before making war of any sort. If when innocent children were killed it was the mothers they had to answer to. I have to believe the world would be a better place. I mean what mother could look at another mother and tell her that the children in her country are less important, and that if they happen to accidentally be injured in attacks its ok. NONE! No mother could say that to another.
Even now I am bothered by that little girls cry. I am caught imagining it is my darling Joey instead of some stranger. What would I do? What would you do?

I got the new Elsie book as a gift from the wonderful Lisa. I love it. It really lit a painting fire under my butt, and for my last few pages that seems to be all I want to do. Here they are.

Why do today what you can put off till tomorrow

That seems to be my attitude towards scanning my layouts in. I have quite a few - and I love each one of them. So why don't I just do it and post them??? I'm LAZY. I like to sleep and do other things. But I will get to them - in the next day or two. No really I will. Really.
Several of the lovely ladies from the village are leaving for CHA this week. I am so excited to see what wonderful things they come back with. I really really adore those ladies - they lift me up, and encourage me. I think that is one of the reasons I don't mind the 30 to 50 minute drive to The Village. I know when I get there they will be there too. They are a wonderful addition to my scrappin family.
CHA - so dreamy. I get goosebumps just thinking about what it would be like to go. So many wonderful things to see. Tons of NEW stuff - I'm such a sucker for new stuff.

Wow!!!

Ok I entered the "Soak up the Summer" contest at the One Page at a Time site, and I got Honorable Mention. That is just awesome. I just was not expecting that at all. So EXCITED!

I am so behind in putting my layouts up - I will have to do that tonight sometime. But before that I get to go finish the mural I started on Natalie's daughter - Kayla's wall. It is coming along very well. It has 4 little flowers - and some butterflies. I will post photos as soon as I am done.

She is awesome. I love this photo of her.
She makes me laugh - a lot, and somehow she always knows the movies and stuff that I refference in my jokes - which is awesome. I am so glad Mimi knew her - so that I get to know her.

I am addicted to several things . Scrapbooking - I guess that goes without saying. Sodas - so sweet and yummy. It is a little known fact that I am also addicted to make-up. I LOVE it so so very much. I mean so much. The reason it isn't well known is becaue I don't it all the time. I would like to, but usually I am in too big of a hurry to put it on. I also go through phases where I feel like being girly all the time. Other times - not so much. What make-up do I love? So many things - almost every single thing at sephora. I could spend hours in there, and do every now and then. Why might someone love make-up so much??? Hello - all the colors, and a lot of it comes in awesome packaging.

Over 100

I just realized that I have done over 100 layouts this year. Holy crap. That isn't including a lot of them. Like my sister's whole album. Wow!!! This is an awesome feeling. I oew it all to those wonderful effers. Love those ladies. They really opened me up - got me thinking about new things - scrappin in a way that feels more natural. Not to mention my awesome switch to 8.5x11 pages. I am so freakin happy and motivated to do more and more pages.
